Attitude of Gratitude

Prez Says Rotary Club of Westerville

November in the Westerville Rotary Club means two important things: recognizing our veterans and being thankful for our country, family and friends.

On Nov. 1, we will hear from Lt. Col. Kathy Lowrey Gallowitz on the “Veteran Champion Movement” during our lunch meeting at Villa Milano. We will then honor our veterans at our annual Rotary Honors Veterans 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Nov. 3.

We stage this great event at Westerville’s Alum Creek Park North. Ceremonies begin at 8:45 with a 9 a.m. start for the 5K. Day-of registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 8:30 to allow time for processing and ceremonies, but preregistration is encouraged – visit https://register.chronotrack.com/r/43158 to sign up.

We partner with Chase Bank to raise money for local veterans’ organizations from the race proceeds. Come out and run, walk or just cheer on the participants.

Of course, this leads to the celebration of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

I am especially thankful about the Columbus Zoo coming to our special meeting Friday, Nov. 23 at the Medallion Club.  It will be great to see the faces of our children and grandchildren interacting with animals from the zoo that day – a repeat of our popular day-after-Thanksgiving event for our families.

Check out an upcoming event on our website and join us!
